Den store amerikanske jazzpianist og melodifortolker, Erroll Garner, indspillede i 1955 sin vel nok mest kendte plade “Concert By The Sea”. Siden 1995 har trioen Gunde on Garner dedikeret sig til at spille i Erroll Garners ånd. 2025 markerer på den måde både 30 års jubilæum for bandet og 70 år for Erroll Garners gennembrud.
Under netop temaet: ”Koncerter ved vandet”, gæster trioen Ribe Jazzfestival, og kan her opleves på byens nye spillested og cafe, Ribe Pakhus.
Med Henrik Gunde som midtpunkt boltrer de tre erfarne jazzmusikere sig i en evig leg med musikkens grundelementer. Gunde on Garner er inspireret af mesterens udtryk, men i stedet for at spille hans repertoire, tager de udgangspunkt i egne arrangementer af danske og udenlandske sange fra både pop, rock og jazzgenren.
Båret frem af Nicolas Kock og Karsten Bagges swingende og energifyldte med- og modspil, giver trioens tætte og kreative sammenspil et friskt og personligt bud på tingene.
Garners særlige karakteristiske swing og stil hyldes samtidig med, at publikum overraskes med valget af sange og den spilleglæde, der tager musikken et nyt sted hen.

The great American jazz pianist and melody interpreter, Erroll Garner, recorded his probably best-known album “Concert By The Sea” in 1955. Since 1995, the trio Gunde on Garner has dedicated themselves to playing in the spirit of Erroll Garner. In this way, 2025 marks both the 30th anniversary of the band and 70 years since Erroll Garner’s breakthrough.
Under the theme: “Concerts by the Sea”, the trio will be visiting Ribe Jazz Festival, and can be experienced here at the city’s new venue and cafe, Ribe Pakhus.
With Henrik Gunde as the centerpiece, the three experienced jazz musicians play an eternal game with the basic elements of music. Gunde on Garner is inspired by the master’s expression, but instead of playing his repertoire, they take their own arrangements of Danish and foreign songs from both the pop, rock and jazz genres as their starting point.
Carried forward by Nicolas Kock and Karsten Bagge’s swinging and energetic accompaniment and counter-play, the trio’s close and creative interplay gives a fresh and personal take on things. Garner’s distinctive swing and style are celebrated while the audience is surprised by the choice of songs and the joy of playing that takes the music to a new place.
